We are currently working on and evaluating the field condition for tonight’s All Star games at 5:30 and 8PM. Game status will be updated by 3:30PM. Check back for any changes.

Middletown Little League’s Kristi Miceli heading to National Finals in MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Competition in Anaheim, California

Kristi Miceli placed in the top three in the country in the Team Championship round in the Major League Baseball/Aquafina hosted Pitch, Hit & Run Competition in the girls’ age 13/14 softball division. She will now head to Anaheim, California to compete in the National Finals. The finals will take place during the MLB All-Star game week. Kristi will be competing against two girls from California.

As a National Finalist, Kristi will receive an all-expense paid trip to Anaheim for the 2010 All-Star Game. She will participate in an array of festivities upon arrival in Anaheim including a PHR Welcome Reception, MLB Brunch and the All-Star FanFest. Finalists will compete on the field at Angel Stadium prior to shagging fly balls during the Home Run Derby and attending the All-Star Game.

Kristi began the competition at the local level during the Middletown Little League opening day parade back in April. She then advanced to the Sectional competition held in Oakhurst, NJ on June 5^th where her overall score landed her a spot in this past weekend’s Team Championships.

Kristi had scored in the top three of all Sectional Championship participants in the New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut area to earn the chance to advance to the Team Championships round. Team Championships were held in the thirty Major League Baseball® ballparks around the country over the past few weekends. We’re all rooting for you Kristi!

Mets defeat Dodgers in 1st round of Playoffs 10-0

Although Seth Ziegler put forth a great pitching effort for the Dodgers, the Met bats just seemed to come alive tonight along with the pitching. The Met pitchers, Brad Siminsky and Kyle Capo combined for 6 innings of 2 hit (Seth Zieglers & Alex Beck),13 strikeouts and only 3 walks.

The Met offense was led by Freddy Yahn’s bases clearing triple in the 5th going 3 for 3 with 4 RBI’s, Capo also went 3-3 scoring all 3 times and Nick Sheehy scoring on two occasions. Also scoring were Hoverson, Sarci, Patin, and Leonard.
