Home / Game Recap / MYAA Mariners Upset Undefeated Yankees (Majors)
The Mariners upset the Yankees 7-2 in their 2nd meeting. After the 1st meeting where the Mariners were winning 7-2 until the Yankees came back in the last inning to top the Mariners 8-7. This was not the story with fireball pitcher Joe Kinsella controlling most of the game. Nicholas Konecny had a nice close with three strike outs in the final inning.
The bats came alive starting with Vincent Deblasi’s controversial triple in the 1st inning. Followed with major hits in the 3rd inning by E-Rod (Elijah Rodriquez) and Matt Labosco’s towering shot past the outfielders. Later hits in the top of the 6th by Anthony Bonfiglio, Robert McCann, Tyler Moe, Osiris Castaner, Charlie Salvador and Vincent Callichio.
Coach Michael said, “The Mariners have so much talent and these ballplayers are starting to show it.” We have a tough schedule next week with a rubber match with the Red Soxs and looking to upset the other undefeated team of the Cardinals. We are looking forward to these challenges with the return of Jerry Trotta from his school ball of St. Marys.
