Home / Game Recap / Cardinals top Mets in playoffs…

Cardinals beat Mets 5-4 behind a great pitching performance by Zac deRocco. Zac deRocco with a swollen index finger and bleeding from his knee lead all pitchers with 9 strike outs and gave up one run. Mets scored first in the top of the third and Cardinals answered in the bottom of the third with two runs of their own with hits from Zac deRocco and Ryan Goscinski.

The game stayed that way until the sixth inning when the Mets scored 3 runs to take the lead. However, the Cardinals would not stop there with the outfielders back to the fences Zac got things started with another hit. The Cardinals got bases loaded against Ryan Byrd and two outs. Zac deRocco scored on a pass ball leaving runners on 2nd and 3rd with Kevin Friebott up at bat. With a 1-2 count and the Cardinal season on the line, Kevin hits a walk off single to bring the winning runs in.  Cardinals got good defense from Luke Bengino, Sean Franco, Nick Roditis, James Schaeffer and Brian Kenney. Cardinals got hits from Zac (2), Ryan, George, Daniel and Kevin showing the bats hit top to bottom of the line-up. Cardinals went 2-1 against the Mets this season.
